We live in a time of quick, easy, convenient, we want it yesterday (there in lies the reason a lot of people are in debt), etc and yes, if you have water spraying from the pipes under the sink we need someone FAST but there are times when we could save money by tackling the job ourself.

One cost saving tip that we can put into play is to implement “DIY” (do it yourself).  Labor is getting more and more expensive and I know sometimes and/or in some areas you just can’t help but have to pay someone.  But, where you can do it yourself…do!  It may take a little time or a little “YouTube research” but most things are doable if we just make the effort.  Depending on what it is you can save hundreds if not thousands of dollars! 

You could even get a little creative here and trade out services…you could help your neighbor who is a plumber by mowing his yard in exchange for him fixing your leak; you could babysit (for free) your friend’s child in exchange for them helping you paint the bathroom????  Just a couple ideas that I randomly made up but you get the idea.  Now let’s even take THIS a step further and instead of the other person doing whatever it is you need, what if they taught YOU how to do it???  Now the next time you need that done you will know what to do and/or how to do it yourself. 

Even still, there ARE things best left to the professionals but let’s face it…there are a lot of things you may say (or think) you can’t do but could with a little effort put forth on your part.
