Weekly Budgeting-paying ahead of your debt

Hello – hello and THANK YOU for joining me again on this week’s blog post.

This week I’d like to talk a little about a way to pay AHEAD on your debt.  This is a method I discovered and it was probably the best method I’ve used to pay off and pay ahead of debt.  I’ll admit, if you are barely covering your expenses it can be difficult to transition over to this method but even if you have to start with just one debt at a time it is worth it.

This method has you putting money aside AND rounding up each week for your debt.  Let me give you an example, let’s say your car payment is $313/month.  Each week put aside at least $78.25 so after 4 weeks you have enough to pay the car payment.  Putting back $78.25 per week can be a lot easier than having $313 come out of one paycheck in one lump sum.  If you can swing it, round that $313 up to maybe $325 and then put aside $88 each week.  See now you are paying $325/month instead of $313 AND in the months that have 5 weeks (paydays) you are getting an extra $88 to put toward the balance.

Does this make sense?  Switch over as many of your bills to this way as you can.  I think of it like savings buckets…each week I see the bucket fill and then when the bill is due not only do I have enough to pay it, I have extra!

In a one hour Coaching Session ($25) we can take a look at your expenses and come up with a doable plan to transition you over to weekly budgeting.
