Hello friends, I’m so glad you are STILL sticking with me as we work on Spring cleaning this month! I’ve been telling you we will get to your finances and WE ARE HERE, THAT is the topic this week.
Definitely continue your projects thru this entire month if you still have some to do but we are moving on to DE-CLUTTERING YOUR FINANCES.
Just like we did for the yard and house projects, we are going to start small and build from there. I hope by now you have a list of your expenses. If you don’t have that yet, go do that as step one and I’ll wait right here until you get back…
GREAT, thank you for taking the time to do that- now look over that list. This step will be different depending on what stage you are at and what your goals are but if you are head over heels in debt, living paycheck to paycheck at best then you need to be a little more aggressive with this. Look over your list of expenses and find the un-necessary items. Don’t skimp on me here…I’m sure there could be some items that aren’t a NECESSITY and if you are drowning in debt getting rid of those items now could be the life line to pull you to safety. Let’s get really honest…we don’t HAVE TO HAVE a cell phone (life will go on and if you do the work now, this is only temporary), we don’t HAVE TO HAVE cable, satellite, 250 channels, Amazon Prime, etc just to name a few.
If you are managing your debt well then yes, you too take a look at your expenses and cut out anything you aren’t using and/or price shop what you are using. I’ve coached several people who have found subscriptions they are paying for and didn’t even remember they had the service!
Basically, just like when we worked on decluttering the cabinets – take a look at everything, cut out what you don’t need anymore and keep what you do. The things you keep make sure you are using them!
If you have questions or need help with this, please don’t hesitate to reach out either by email (budgetwithcarla@gmail.com) or you can send a PM thru Facebook (Budgeting Basics-A journey to debt free living)
In a one hour Coaching Session ($25) we can take a look at your expenses and decide based on your current situation and goals, what adjustments need to be made to get rid of the clutter and get you organized so that you can plow thru to YOUR goal!
